Refunds

The course drop transaction must be completed at my.ucsc.edu before the refund process can begin. This applies to all students who have enrolled for summer courses, including financial aid recipients. If all summer courses are dropped, a $50 cancellation fee is charged. After Sunday, July 1, the $283 campus fee is non-refundable as well (regardless of session). Refund deadlines are shown on the Calendar. Please keep your mailing address up to date on my.ucsc.edu so that refunds are mailed to your most current address.

  • Check & eCheck Refund - If your summer fees were paid by check or eCheck (via SallieMae), your refund will be mailed to your mailing address unless you have set up direct deposit. If you are a UCSC student continuing in the Fall Quarter, after mid-August, your refund will be applied to your Fall Fees.
  • Credit Card Refund- If your payment was made by credit or debit card, the credit or debit card that was charged (and only that card) will be credited.

Class Cancellation
Summer Session classes are rarely canceled. However, in the event that a class enrollment is too low or that an instructor is unable to teach, a class may be canceled. Every effort will be made to notify students beforehand and a full refund will be issued. However, if a class is canceled, fees can be applied to another class. Be sure to check the Class Search periodically for updated information on course changes and cancellations.
