Arboretum
The Arboretum is a research and teaching facility serving both the campus and the public. Large assemblages of plants from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and California natives are displayed on the grounds. The Arboretum also offers a lecture series, a gift shop, events, and a library for use by Summer Session students. Automatic Tellers (ATMs)
ATM machines, accepting most credit cards, are located just across from the Bay Tree Bookstore in the center of campus.
Bay Tree Bookstore
UCSC's Bay Tree Bookstore is located in the center of campus at the intersection of Hagar Drive and Steinhart Way. The Bookstore serves as the campus resource for UCSC course materials, including new and used course books and custom faculty publications, general reading and reference books, and a wide variety of school, dorm living and personal supplies. The Bay Tree Bookstore offers academically priced Dell and Apple computers. Summer Session students are eligible for all discounts and special offers. The Bookstore also houses the campus convenience store (The Express Store), and ID Card Services.

Campus Cashier Office
The Cashier's Office accepts e-Checks from SallieMae, cash, checks, Western Union, or MoneyGram. Credit cards are not accepted. (However, you may pay Summer Session fees by MasterCard, Discover, or American Express on the Summer Session website [a 2% non-refundable convenience fee is charged]). Disability-Related Services
UCSC Summer Session is firmly committed to accommodating students with disabilities and welcomes their attendance at UCSC. The Disability Resource Center, in conjunction with the Summer Session Office, may provide the following services or authorizations to help meet the needs of students with disabilities during the summer: on-campus paratransit service; special parking; arranging for accessible classrooms; special testing arrangements; providing materials in alternative formats; sign language interpreters; adaptive equipment loans; readers; note-takers; and referrals to resources, services, and organizations.

Farm and Garden
The UCSC Farm and Garden project sells organic vegetables, fruit, and flowers all summer at a produce stand on the corner of Bay and High Streets (base of campus) every Tuesday and Friday, 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems manages two facilities on campus: the Alan Chadwick Garden and the 25-acre UCSC Farm. Fire Department
For all emergencies, dial 911 from any campus or private phone.
The campus fire department is located next to Crown College on Chinquapin Road and operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The fire department's responsibilities encompass fire prevention, fire suppression, hazardous material emergency response, and emergency medical treatment. Department activities include annual inspection of campus buildings for fire hazards or other dangerous conditions; reviewing campus events to meet public safety standards; fire and life safety training for students, staff, and faculty; and inspection, testing, and maintenance of campus fire alarms and fire protection systems.

Information Technology Services (ITS)
All Summer Session students automatically receive UCSC accounts that provide access to commonly used services including the campus wired and wireless networks, and access to computers and printers in open Computing Labs. Libraries
The University Library consists of newly-expanded McHenry Library (which houses the humanities and social science collections and the Media Center) and the Science & Engineering Library. Collections include 1.3 million bound volumes; access to over 12,000 periodicals, newspapers, and other serials; and special materials such as manuscripts, maps, slides, audiovisual materials, and interactive computer media. While most library materials may be checked out for use, audiovisual materials must be used in the Media Center. Library staff are eager to offer assistance with the use of the collections at various service points.

The Office of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports at UCSC provides a wide variety of interesting and challenging activities intended to participation and cultivate a climate of diversity and inclusion. The emphasis is on giving individuals an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills, and behaviors that support life-long wellness and good health.
Facilities available on campus include the Wellness/Fitness Center, 50-meter pool, 2 sports fields, outdoor basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, lighted tennis courts, martial arts studio, multi-purpose room, dance studio, gymnasium, 1/2 mile jogging track, and indoor racquetball/handball courts. Access to these facilities requires a current UCSC Student ID or a Wellness Card (for non-students). Police Officers of the UCSC Police Department are duly sworn peace officers under section 830.2 (b) of the California Penal Code. The officers of the department are armed and possess the same authority under the law as municipal police officers. UCSC Police Officers patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They enforce the law, arrest violators, investigate and suppress crime, investigate traffic and bicycle accidents and provide a full range of services to the community.
The Police Office is located at the base of campus across from the Women's Center. Business hours are 8 am to 5pm Monday through Thursday.
The Parking Enforcement Office (for paying parking citations and requesting special parking consideration) is in the same location. Business hours are 8 am to 5pm Monday through Thursday. Citation payments may be made by mail or in person Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. or at paymycite.com.
Postal Services (Campus Mail Services)

A US Postal Service substation (post office) is located in Baskin Engineering Building. Entrance is from the west side of the building, next to the loading dock. Postage stamps may be purchased and packages mailed. Click here for hours of operation, or call 459-2765. Postal mail collection boxes are located at each college and at the Quarry Plaza.
Services for Transfer & Re-Entry Students (STARS)

STARS is geared to supporting transfer and re-entry students, and military veterans, who are beginning or continuing their college education. The program also offers support to students who are parents, regardless of age, and to people who have had a break of four years of more in their college work. STARS provides the extra personal and academic support a transfer or re-entry student may need to benefit fully from his/her education at UCSC whether he/she is a full-time or part-time student. Call STARS at 459-2552 or 459-4968 to make an appointment or for more information. The STARS Center is in Room 216 of the Academic Resources Center, located between McHenry Library and the Music Center, at the top of the Great Meadow.
Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab
Visit a world-class working marine laboratory, including exhibit halls, aquaria, touch tanks, tours to marine mammal research overlook, the Ocean Discovery Shop, and unsurpassed vistas of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Hold a sea star in your hand. Marvel at the world's largest whale skeleton. See full-size elephant seal sculptures. Think like a scientist! Student Business Services (Accounts Receivable)
The Office of Student Business Services is the billing and collections office. We are responsible for sending out the monthly billing statements and refunding credit balances. We offer the Deferred Payment Plan to assist students in paying their registration fees. We also offer Direct Deposit and encourage all students to sign up for direct deposit in order to receive their refunds in a safe and fast method. Students can sign up for Direct Deposit on their portal under "Accounts and Billing>Direct Deposit". Remember Direct Deposit is for refunds only and is not a payment method. If an account has a past due balance, we are responsible for the Credit History Hold which prevents enrollment and transcripts. Check the website for hours of operation.

Student Health Center

Veteran Services

The Veteran Services staff serve as liaison between students who are veterans, veterans' dependents, or reservists, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. If you are a veteran or veteran's dependent, you should contact Veterans Services as soon as you register for UCSC Summer Session to ensure timely processing of your education benefits claim. Women's Center
The Women's Center is an inviting spot for between-classes study and socializing. Located in an historic farmhouse, Cardiff House, the Center is near the main entrance to campus across from the Police Department and behind Carriage House, which houses the Publications and Alumni offices. The Center includes a living room, kitchen, library and conference room. Computers are available for working on papers, searching the web, or checking your e-mail.
